I think my Whelk is laying eggs..

I spotted my whelk like this today doing what looks to me like laying eggs. i recently started a thread on my moon snails that i collected locally that were a predatory species of snails. well i put 7 of them in my sump and had a foam divider between the baffles to section off my whelk from my moon snails but after coming back from a 4 day vacation it seems my whelk pushed his way through the foam block and ended up eating all of the moon snails and i guess was fed well enough that it decided to lay eggs.. will these turn out to be anything?? i can hardly think so there isnt a mail here to fertilize them if they need to be fertilized idk if thats what this species does.

Yup. I guess they won't develop into babies, but it will be interesting to see. Nice pics!

Well I guess that was only one row of eggs she ended laying another two rows right beside the first.

Ive been in search of another whelk idk how I would sex them though I want to see if I can maybe get a male

How long have you had this whelk? I don't know how possible it is in snails, but in reptiles they have found females have held on to male sperm for decades and given surprise births while in controlled captive situations. Just a thought.

Ive had it for almost 2 years. And I know about reptiles storing sperm I used to have a hognose that laid fertile eggs every 3 months for over a year after I got her. Not sure about snails though lol
