Let me give you a little background.

I have 2 naked Clowns about a year old. The larger one has definitely claimed her dominance as she refuses to allow the lil guy into either of the anemones.

He does the lil shakey-breaky dance everytime she comes near him. Poor lil guy hosts the torch, hammer or frogspawn until she runs him off. During the day they pretty much hang out together... and every few minutes ... the female will run over and check on both of the Anemones.

The last week or so I have been noticing that the male sleeps on the edge of the RBTA's tentacles. (Same anemone that the female snuggles into at night) When the actinics come on at 6:00 am the female, after a minute, will notice the male is hiding there and she nips at him and runs him off.

The other day, the male got on his side, did the submissive dance around the full parameter of the rbta while the female playfully chased him nipping at him. It was the funniest thing to watch. He must have circled the parameter of the RBTA (between the first and second rows of the tentacles) at least 7-8 times; while she chased him.

Well, this morning my face is glued to the glass in anticipation of seeing their funny behavior as the actinics come on.

Much to my surprise, the male was laying flat against the rock between the rock and the lower layer of tentacles and wasn't moving.

She'd nip at him or try to budge him with her nose and *no can do.* He wouldn't move. This behavior lasted for a couple of minutes until I realized he must be dead.

I ran to the back bedroom and woke up TJay and told him our male clown was dead... He came into the living room, observed what was happening and suggested I better get him out of the tank.

As soon as the net got close to him... He swam away!!

Then I realize.... this lil bugar is sleeping on his side, flat against the rock .... between the rock and the tentacles!! Playing opossum??

I know they say clowns have strange behavior, but have yall experienced anything like this before??

I was certain he was on his way to the big ocean in the sky!

Guess no one has ever had this happen. It was just so weird that he was laying on his side flat against the rock between the rock and the RBTA.... not moving, looked dead.

Good news is... he's still alive. I will consider this normal... "if" you can call clown behavior "normal." :)

Thanks anyway!

in my marine biology class in 11th grade my friend had a pair of clarkies and one morning we came in to feed them like normal and the one was just laying on its side not moving or anything. then once we got the net in the tank and about to scoop him out he got up and started to swim around loike noghting ever happend. goofy fish.

sorry double post first time thats ever happened..

My perc will go into shock if the lights in the room goes on to quick...she will freeze and sink to the bottom of the tank and colapse on her side. First time I saw her do it I thought she was dead too.
