I tramatized my Royal Gramma

Last week I did a major remodeling of some rocks and my Royal Gramma hasn't, except for two brief moments that I have witnessed, left his cave. The part I remodeled was not in his section of the aquarium or the stack of rocks he lives in...I have three separate towers of rocks. At first I freaked because I thought it went somewhere and died. Then I realized that it was, in fact, in it its cave when I saw the little nose sticking out.

The two times when it came ever so briefly out I could see that it was healthy so I'm not worried that it's sick anymore. I take my turkey baster and shoot food into the tunnel door every time I feed them. I want to make sure he eats.

Is this the way to go on his care? Has this ever happened to anyone else. Such a pretty fish. I miss not seeing it swim in the tank.

I have had this happen with other fish after a re-aquascaping. Some took around 1-2 weeks to settle back in after the 'event' and began acting normally after that.

Personally, I wouldn't shoot food into his cave just because I would want to encourage him to come out!

Leave him be. He'll likely become more sociable over time.

I started shooting food in his cave when I thought he was sick and wanted to encourage him to eat. I think I will just make sure some of it goes by his front door to help entice him out.
