a couple of questions:

1. are they really reef safe?
2. will he get along with my yellow tang in a 125-gallon?
3. what if i also add a powder blue tang and maybe a hippo tang into the mix?

thanks for the help.

If this was the only fish you add you maybe stretching it.
You say its a reef tank so that means coral and there health. This means resricting fish amount and size.I would pic one of those and then add other smaller reef type fish. With that said its best to add the least aggresive fish firs and the more aggresive fish last for less fighting and easier accumulation.

Oh and it is reef safe but a gaurantee anytime your hand is in the tank and you feel any bump you will freak.

i would say that you can add the fish and have 3 tangs in a 125 depending on the footprint of the tank, and the filtration. tangs need space to swim, so longer and wider is better than taller. and you have to be able to pull all of the detritus out of the tank with your filtration.

I'd add the foxface, but skip the additional tangs. Mine is one of my favorite fish - always out, eats anything I throw in the tank. Also, they're practically bulletproof, so I think it's a great fish for beginners or semi-beginners. (I always wear the long reef gloves when putting my hands in my tank, though, in part because of the foxface's venomous spines.)

I have a one spot foxface and he is great. He is my favourite fish in the tank. Gets along good with all my other fish (tangs, clowns... everybody). Haven’t ever seen him pick at anything except algae and stuff on the rock. Great fish, by far the best I have kept. Reminds me of a little kid how much he just rips around the tank and the second the light go out he sinks down to the bottom, goes all camo and sleeps away the night. Haha, so much character in that little guy.

Great fish. Go for it.
Mine gets along with everyone. but make sure you want one because they are the fastest fish I have ever seen. Catching one is a real pita.

I love mine that I have. A great fish. I say that reef-safeness varies by individual. My Foxface will occasionally nip at my kenya tree corals (only coral in my tank). But is not doing it much harm. I doubt if he would go for any stony corals. I just keep my fish well fed and there is not much issue with it.
