I love the challenge of SPS and love all my corals and frags, but I am scared to add a Blueface. I am afraid of a nipping monster!! Who owns one and if i got one a smaller one I could train to wait for food from me and keep it well fed I would think. It should not pick on my SPS. What do you think?

I have always wanted one then saw one about 4 inches long in a LFS, just beautiful, what a great loking fish.

The overall concensus with the large angels seems to be that every individual fish is different. I had an Emperor in my reef for years, and it only bothered zoanthids and aiptasia. However, someone I know got one because of the experience I had with mine, and it ate every coral, clam, and starfish in his tank.

I have never had a blue face but would like one for the Sps tank that I have started. I was told it would distroy everything and not to do it.
Good luck with your choice.

I had one and he only ate the polyps xenia (my blue stuff) that sucked...... I removed him only after all the polyps were gone..... he never did touch my acros!!

Is this on a 150? The thing is he WILL IMO nip at the coral. The bigger the tank and the more coral, the less you notice coral damage because there is so much more for him to pick at so they take up the slack for each other. They usuall find a favorite thing to pick at, and some things they really dont. So what you gotta do is ask yourself this. I know he will pick and nibble, but do i have a big enough tank so that the damage is negligible and not irrepairable? This should guide you. If you want my own opinion, with the 150 i wouldnt do it, not even with your tank, not since you say you love your SPS. Go buy a 120 and just put a little lr, sandbed and wet dryor skimmer and make it a FO, then get your angel, and even more angels.
