I want a clam!!

I have a 75 with 4 65w 10000k, 2 actinics 460 and 2 65w 50/50. Is this enough lighting for a clam?

I think it depends how deep your tank is. I have an 80 gallon that is 20" deep and the light is about 2" off the water surface and a very similar light setup as you. I was told I could keep a clam just about anywhere in the tank.

my tank is about 20-24'deep as well. Do you have any clams?

You should be fine with that lighting. Crocea's are the hardest to keep and most light demanding, followed by Maxima's. Both need to be on a rocky substrate due to issues with sand getting stuck in their gills as I understand it. So keep that in mind if you go that route. Both get to be about 6" +/- when fully grown and they can grow quickly. If you are going the Derasa/Squamosa route keep in mind that they get up to 18" +/-.

I have a Derasa in my tank now that is 14" and puts on about an inch a month in growth! I am afraid I will have to be looking for a good home for him soon due to his size!

I got a crocea on the weekend. I know they are harder to keep and more light demanding but I only have an 80 gallon and dont want the clam to take over so I went with a smaller one. After drip aclimating I put him in the tank and he opend within 15 mins. I have him on the bottom at present because he keeps falling off the rock when he opens. Im going to try another rock today.

I personally wouldn't put any clam in a 75 with that amount of lighting. I tried it once years ago in my 75 when I had 6*65 PCs, and the clam slowly (( over a couple of months )) died.

You can brace him a bit on the rock you want him on by stacking loose rock around him so he isn't knocked over. Or put a pice of rock under him on the bottom, wait for him to attach, and then move the rock up. If the light/flow is sufficient at the bottom he will attach pretty quickly. The two big things to remember with them are light and flow. Too much or too little of either will mean that he will detach and fall/move.
