I want my mushrooms to multiply

What is the fastest and best way to get my mushrooms to multiply? Right now I have them at the top of the tank so the light is intense and the flow is low. Any sugestions?

you can cut them in half, you will multiply the amount of shrooms you have in no time

yeah, everywhere I've read says that cutting them in half is the easiest way to do it.. I also read that you can use and elastic band on them and if its tight enough, they will split, but don't take my word for it because I have no experience with this lol.

Just a quick question.. what's the odds of them dying by cutting them in half and how does this vary with different types of shrooms? thanks

If you want to make little ones that will grow quickly slice small pieces around the edges of the foot these little pieces will grow into mushrooms and if you target feed them with a liquid food they will grow very quickly.

Does cutting the mushrooms damage........... or hurt them?

Do you use a kitchen knife? scaple? scissers?

One way I have noticed my mushrooms and Yumas splitting is if they are actually in unfavorable conditions; i.e. too much flow or lower light. This makes them want to move from their current position. When they do they leave a piece that grows into anew shroom. My Yumas have split quite often when they get put under these conditions.

OK I'm a total noob! I just cut them in quarters with each one having a piece of the mouth/center? .... this sounds so easy I'm sure I can kill it in less than a minute

I turn off my pumps and feed them mysis shrimp or formula 1 pellets. Once they get used to this they respond to feeding very quickly and grow fast and split

Be careful what you ask for. I have an outbreak of mushrooms. It started as one and now they are taking over. Given time (Few months) and they will start popping up all over / under your LR.

depending on what they look like this can be a good or bad thing. If you have dozens of bumpy red shrooms its likely a good thing. Can you say frag fest!

I want LOTS of them. I'm setting up 10 empty tanks we have at school and we have nothing living in them except a couple of things. I hope my 2 mushrooms can be 200 by August :p ... ok but even 4 would be OK.

Question...do i cut it into quarters and move the pieces? they are attached to a rock. Or can I can just cut into quarters and not move them...

....I mean...will the 4 pieces mend themselves that close together or will they form 4 complete smaller mushrooms? I bought a couple of cheapies that I'm going to experiment with...if they work then I'll try my frillies :) .

i even seen shrooms be put into a blender then poured back into the tank and they will grow everywhere--should try it if you want a out break of shrooms. if you do let me know how it goes.

HAHA that's FUNNY! I'm not sure I'm up to the blender yet!! I did cut my first mushroom into quarters...3 are doing great after 3 days...the other got hijacked by my goby to build his little "fortress." I think he thinks he can make some mushroom tea in there

That sounds like insta-death...but just for the heck of it...maybe I'll try the blender thing in the spare tank.

Thx!

it works no b/s just dont puree it leave it a little chunky. and do it with one you wont be mad about losing although you will like the results, let me know of your progress!

So on an average, if you put 1 mushroom in the blender how many will survive the torture? Assuming you have done it before.

you want to use about 1/2 cup of tank water and either do it really fast or do it slow dont know which works better, i have done it fast. just dont puree ii into nothing, you still want to be able to recognize it or just go for it and blend the s**t out of it and pour it into the main display tank or if you have a grow out tank. seriously i want to know how you do at this!
