I want to come back.

As some of you may remember, I joined the club last summer when I moved to Nashville. I joined, attended one meeting, and then never returned. I started school at vanderbilt and I lost interest in my tank.

As some may remember, I lost everything but two fish when I moved to Nashville. Ever since I have been dealing with hair algae, red stringy algae, and culupera algae. I just finished my first year and I am getting my fishes home in order. It started two weeks ago when I had a leaky bulkhead, I took every piece of rock out of my tank and brushed it with a tooth brush. I restacked the rock, I ordered a better pump for my skimmer, I just recieved my in line TDS meter for my RO(001 ppm) so that is not the problem, I also just received my auto top off from autotopoff.com. I am in the process of setting it up now. I just put a hole in one of my favorite 5g carboys, I hope that my efforts will not leak because I loved that 5g container.

I am no battling a heat problem and ordered a replacement fan. I couldn't find a clip on fan anywhere.

Well I am sure that this has gone on long enough. I wish I could come to this weekends meeting but my membership relapssed and I am going away for two months in a couple of weeks.

Dude -- where you been? I've been waiting for the report on your skimmer :D

Didn't you get a bermuda rogue?

The meeting is next weekend (May 17) -- are you going to be around then?

Yes that was me. School took so much of my time. Well that and the fact that my tank disgusted me. I don't have much to report concerning the rogue. I don't get much skimate, i don't know if that is because of the light bioload, (2 fish with little feeding) or the pump. I am switching out the rio 1100 for a mag 5. Hopefully that will help. My goal in most of this is to get the tank relatively self sufficient while I am away. I tried to contact exotic aquatic to schedule maintenance while I am gone, but I have not heard back yet.

I completely understand school taking a lot of your time! Trust me! :)

FWIW, I mesh modded my CSS65 and it made it a whole new skimmer. The thread is here if you'd like to take a look. :)

So right now you're just having nothing but problems out of your tank?

Well right not it looks ok, but I have brushed off my rock before and it all just grew back. I cleaned it off, am doing frequent water changes (which I am glad I am confident in my RO water TDS 001), and just bought a massive cleaner crew to keep up. they seem to be doing good work. The leak during finals was not nice but at least it motivated me to get cracking on this tank. I was really disheartened after losing almost everything, and couldn't bare to look at it. I am surprised the two clownfish that survived the whole ordeal are still alive.

I can't imagine having a leak during finals! That would STINK.

Glad your fish survived!

Any idea whats causing the algae? Overfeeding? Just not enough time to make it go away yet?

Brandon

Well when I moved down, my rock was in buckets for to long because of leacks in the plumbing. I think the massive die off on the rock took a while to get over, then it seemed like my cleaner crew couldn't keep up, then I just got frustrated and let it go hoping that it would run its course and fix itself. In that time i added the bermuda rogue skimmer in the hopes that that would help.

Ahhh... gotcha.

Wish I knew something to tell you, but I have no clue other than hang in there! :)
