I went to WetPets by Steve today

I was in WetPets in Norman for the first time since they opened the whole new expansion into the office next door. They have done a great job. They have a lot more marine livestock and their prices seem to be the best in the OKC area. As usual Steve had the place really clean also. His bathroom was even nice looking. hahahaha

I picked up a 4"+ Kole Tang for a friend for $36 and I got toadstool frag for $9, with the COMAS discount. His frag tanks look great and he has many more SPS corals than he used to. If I recall correctly nearly all were $40 and under with the exception of some large colonies that where a little more.

Steve also wanted to thank all the COMAS members that have been buying the T5HO lighting he recently started carrying. He has been really pleased with the business that has brought in. He said he is increasing his T5 supplies with his next order that will come in soon. Steve cracked me up when he apologized for his live rock tanks lighting not being perfect. He has a large T5 unit on order for his live rock tank! hahaha

We are lucky to have some great LFS's here in the OKC area.

I got mine there too and have ordered more from him. I wish all LFS would take note... I would sure rather keep my spending in OK and with local shops.

I havent jumped on the T5 bus yet, but everytime I go to Wetpets I think about it. Now after seeing the color in Paul W's tank I am really comtemplating it.

WetPets is an awesome store, and Steve is always honest and forthcoming

You are quite correct. You can sheer a sheep many times but can only skin it once.

Hopefully Steve will get more and more business by being honest forthcoming.

For those of you who know Paula (Steve's wife), her father just passed away. I just wanted to give you a heads-up if you wanted to tell them that your thoughts and prayers are with them.

They really are a great store. I'm very glad to have them so close to me.

Good deal on Steve's stepping forward with his selection of T5HO lighting. It is so great to see a store blazing trails like that. Even down in Dallas with all the stores here, you don't see a lot of it readily available...

If anyone wants to post or PM with this, please do. What kind of price does Steve have on T-5 endcaps and bulbs? Debating on ordering online or driving to Norman.

If Brook is planning a trip to Enid in the near future...... Hmmm.... maybe a delivery???

And sorry to hear about Paula's father.

I am about to place an order as well for T5HO retrofit supplies for a 7x 55W Bulb setup. I'll have to give him a call tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see what kind of prices he can do.

I went and got two pairs of h20 proof endcaps from him a while back, along with a bulb.

Nice to deal with, and when I need more T5 supplies, I will head back his way.

Can you not go to the Jan. meeting, Jeff? If not, and if my mom comes, she will most certainly go to Wet Pets down in Norman before the meeting. She could probably bring them back up to you. I don't know when I'll be going to Enid next. Sorry

The bulb prices I saw at his store were cheaper than you can get them from Premium Aquatics. (These were for Giesemann T5s in both cases)

When I asked Paul W, he said the T5 retro kits available down there were also cheaper than you could get them online.

I can not recommend Steves prices enough....lord knows I bought enough of them from him.

He has a nice working display of available bulbs so you can see the color combinations....you cant get that perspective online.

Paul.

Thanks for the replies all. Brook, PM sent. After what Paul says, I more than likely should go look at bulb combinations so I'm not dissapointed by a blind purchase.

Next time I'm there.....

I need to replace my VHO's anyway and might as well try T5's. 1 question though... I know on my IceCap 660 I can run 4X48" bulbs in T5. Will this be enough light so as not to use my MH bulbs? OR, should I keep using the MH with 4 T5's? SPS and clams in tank, 55gal.
