has anyone used the Tunze DOC Skimmer 9205? I know it's for a larger aquarium, but curious to know what people think... value for money, output, build quality etc. Thanks

For $24 a year you can get a membership that not only helps support running the site but also gets you access to reliable searching. IMO the value I get out of using the site all the time is worth *way* more than the $2 a month it costs me.

thank you for the link to the other search engine. I was not aware of it as a second option. Of course, I apologize for the sarcasm in my post, and can only give the excuse of being frustrated with the fact that I can never search the regular page without a premium membership. I was under the impression that the search page was unavailable because of high traffic and I worry that I will get the same results even if I subscribe to the higher membership. Perhaps those of you who are already subscribed could give me a quick insight as to the availablity of the regular search engine. Thanks.

The premium membership is defiantly worth it. When I first signed up for it two years ago the search engine worked well I just wanted to support the site. But it has become very valuable lately with all the problems people are having. I would say that the search works about 90% of the time. I do get denied on occasion but after a few minutes it's working again.

here is the first answer to the real question...
i am not happy with the skimming of the tunze 3115 skimmer.
it does not seem to pull anything even close to the real el cheapo top fathom skimmer on a mag 5. if the top fathom skims so that there is nothing left for the tunze is sad...if the tunze was awesome, it would be the other way around...
what happened when the top fathom was taken offline for cleaning? the tunze still did a pretty crumby job at skimming.
my recommendation is that i would spend the money on a euroreef or something similar.
