So I came back from vacation and only one of my to ice cap 660 t5 was on. The guy who watched my tank didn't do any serious work on it, so I figured burnt bulb or dead ballast.
So I tried changing bulbs and no dice. When you first plug it in the first two bulbs fire for one second, the third one flickers and the fourth nothing at all. So I tried firing it with the other working ballast, and got the same result.
So after carefully inspecting the light one of the sockets has a small melted section in the end cap on one side. I am assuming this is the problem and have ordered the new endcap.
My question is what could have caused this, I've never heard a problem like this. The bulb is a two month old ati bulb(the socket is directly above the return/drain area that gives a decent amount of splash is my only thought). And if changing the end cap does not fix the problem any other ideas?
