Ice Probe in water chiller

As a small (40-gallons or less) reef keeper, I hate external plumbing, especially sumps. I love the hang on the tank (HOT) outboard filters for their low cost, surface overflow and easy-to-use convenience.

I am thinking of adding the small, relatively low cost ($100) Ice Probe in the water chiller for my soft coral display. Anybody have any experience/advice with these?

they work ok on a small setup(like 10g or less)i doubt it will do much if any to a 40g.there is another company out there that makes larger versions of the ice probe.but they are kind costly and i dont see why anyone would buy one over a true chiller.you can get a 1/10hp chiller for around $300,that was the route i went on my 38g.

a fan over my 37gal hooked to a reefkeeper controller is enough to keep the temps in my tank under ~81.. and thats with a 250w MH, and 2x 65w PC. I have my house windows open most of the time and only turn the A/C on when it gets 84+ or so in the house during the day (it does go on at night!).
