man i want one really bad...
Yeah, just ran by my LFS Your Reef in Roseville,CA who helped originate the Tyree Ice Fire with Rich and Karl and he told me that they look wild. Guess the key difference is the green base and the "Real" lineaged Ice Fire's don't grow straight out. They are more branchy and they twist, which my little guy looks likeThere are also no large colonies bigger than 4" that are known of. Not even Steve Tyree's colonies are that big.
Glad I haven't made the trade for my lineaged 100 eye BGM and 35 eye BJ chalice colonies. It's one of the reasons why I posted on the forums to double check and make sure because I'm not an expert and I didn't want to sell or trade frags of it without making sure. Puts my reputation on the line tooNice pieces, but not worth the trade now.. Appreciate the confirmation.
Hey guys,
I just got an e-mail from the seller and he swears its the Tyree Ice Fire Echinata that he purchased at Baymac in 09' and grew out over the last 2 years. He's also a really nice guy and I don't want to throw him under the bus and I'd like to do the trade, but wanted to see what your guys thoughts are.
Could the Tyree Ice Fire morph from the green base to the white or cream base after changing lighting to LED's. He also fragged the branches off the main colonies and sold them in frag packs, which is true because I almost bought one a few weeks ago.
Do you guys think that these could be Tyree Ice Fire colonies? They're awesome looking and even if they aren't I may still get them, but what I don't want is wild ones that have a 50-70% chance of RTNing on me.
Appreciate your thoughts and expertise. I was a newbie back in 09' and this makes me feel like a newbie again..lol

Personally if I received those as they look in that pic I would be super pumped....they look sweet....whether or not its worth that trade you mentioned I dont know. Personally I like the look of those over the tyree icefire.

My gut is really telling me he is not being truthful. But one way to clear it up is ask for a photo of his mother colony before he chopped it up....it should have a huge base grown to his rock from years of growth. If he can't provide that........be very very suspicious.
Nice. But is that it's true colors? The photo looks a bit photoshopped:hmm2:
