Ich after 6wk QT

Waited 6 long weeks with fish in QT. After 2 days in main tank the ich has come back! Do I need to start over again or do you think they can "fight" it off?

Did you qt the fish because they were new, or because they had ich to begin with? If they had ich to start, what did you do to get rid of it? Was the display tank free from any fish for the whole six weeks?

The fish hand ich to begin with. I used Instant Ocean medication. They looked good in the QT tank. I removed all fish from the main tank.

Did you add anything (rock, inverts, etc ) during the 6 week period?

For ich, I treat with proven methods of eradication - copper OR hyposalinity.

What is the active ingredient in the Instant Ocean medication??

Instant Ocean Lifeguard Saltwater Fish Medication:

Active ingredient: 1-chloro-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-4-imidazolidinone

I'm really not sure what this treatment is intended to be used for to be completely honest, I have never used it. I believe it is intended to be a broad spectrum treatment which I personally have to question how effective that would be when trying to target a particular issue such as Ich or a bacterial infection.

I agree with Kelly that it would be wise to stick with treatments that are proven to work such as Hypo, Copper, or the Transfer Method.

I used coppersafe from Mardel for my hippo tang who has ich(white spots). It's been two days since I used the CopperSafe and my hippo is better, the white spots become much smaller than before. However this medicine is only safe for fish only tank per my LFS.
