Ich and immunity

I wonder if you could clear something up for me. Some fish acquire a certain amount of immunity against Ich (crypto) so that they respond to the infestation bu producing antigen specific antibodies. But what is the relation between the fish, immune response and the parasite. Is it that there is a triggered response by the parasite resulting in it's exit from the host? I've read this of other parasites but not specific to marine Ich.

I have never read anything that totally explains immunity that fish acquire ... some suggest its not unlike some diseases that people can get where the immunity that we acquire varies from person to person and never seems to last forever.

IMO, if fish can acquire improved antigen specific antibodies against ich, they would have done so in the ocean. Why not? Ich is so common in very low level of infestation.

Even if they can, the factor of physical confinement, four walls and a bottom, leading to unnatural concentration of pathogens, should dominate any method to combat ich. I believe eradication by quarantine and separation is the way to go for ich.

I agree. Can't argue that point. But I was hoping someone could elaborate for me the discussion in THIS Oxford Paper.... or if anyone had a subscription
