had a 125 gallon reef and fish setup going ..
bought all sorts of equiptment..
then my fish got ick.
now my queen angel, about 5 osc clowns, and some damsels are swimming in a copper 75 treated tank.
i put them in, along with all the rest of the fish that were in the tank with them, even though it was just gobies, i had no where else to put them as im getting rid of the tank to upgrade.
overnight they seemed fine all swimming and eating fine.
and today the queen looks HORRIBLE.
her eyes are getting a coating which i know comes with ick but WHY is it getting worse =( i dont wanna lose her shes my best fish.
and now i think i see it starting on a baby blue tang in my 24 gallon reef/fish.
recomendations/suggestions are needed and appreciated at this time..
it SUCKS.

does the 75 have gravel or sand in it? did you just set this tank up and dump all the fish in? my guess is ammonia or maybe too much copper is causing them to look worse. if you just set this tank up to treat the fish you'll need to do big water changes to keep the tank stable. even if you put a sponge from a seeded tank in you'll need to do large water changes at first to combat the ammonia with that many fish.

no, the tank has been up and running for about 5 months. their is live sand in this tank. should i test for ammonia? there is a TON of fish in here. and i tested for copper its at about 2 right now, it was a lil low so i added a tiny bit.

just wondering but does it make a difference if there is sand or not? Im in a situation myself

I have read angels are sensitive to copper. This is why I chose not to treat my blue and gray angels with copper. Might want to find alternatives to copper for the angel quick!

Oh and I think sand absorbs copper.

yeah i think my queens dieing as of now..got popeye i think from the freshwater dip and its not swimming just barely breathing now. so i wouldnt suggest angels in copper either...
does anyone know for sure if the sand absorbs copper?

Calcium based gravel or rocks do absorb copper. That is why it is important to check copper levels frequently.

I exclusively use Cupramine copper with all my angels (even ones that have been labeled as copper sensitive), wrasses, clowns etc. It is not as harsh as other copper medications and very affective.

all we have in there is sand a few peices of roc we do...the first day it was low and we brought it bac up asap and its been fine now... sad to say our queen died last night... everything els is doing great...maby it got into there gills and killed em...it was laying there for a while gasping
