Ich in the QT

Reel North

New King of Quarantine
Well, I'm utilizing my 75 g qt for every fish that goes in my DT.

I have seen dead flukes, and had a couple of fish not make it through QT - which is a whole lot better than moving diseases into my DT.

Right now, I have 4 bangai cardinals, an asfur and blue face angel (babies), a small naso, 2 bellus and a small Achilles tang in there right now.

I know that Achilles are really ich prone, and this one is no exception apparently.

He has a dusting of white spots, but is eating and not scratching.

This group has been in for a week now, with the exception of the bellus which I added (a beautiful pair) today.

I know that the clock resets when another fish is added.

I'm using ich shield powder as per the instructions of 1 scoop per 20g.

The ich in qt doesn't concern me, because that's where you treat diseases right lol

I assume i continue the ich powder treatment for 21 days as per the instructions, and then follow up with the 2 rounds of prazi correct.

Just confirming .....:debi:

I did but not with a 75 lol. Should I just get another 20 g? I have one 20 g already.

Only thing is Achilles get soooo stressed in a small tank

Wow, this is a tough situation to be in.
You are doing the right thing with QT and still got burned, but as you say, it's not your DT.
Unfortunately, your QT is now infested with ich. If the 75 is cycled, it needs to be either fallowed or restarted. A restart would be faster.

Put all your current inhabitants through TTM since they are exposed to ich as well. It's the most reliable, least stressful ich treatment, IMO.
If the infection is not extreme, I would run the them through TTM in small groups ( 1 or 2 ) using 5g buckets. Then get a pair of 20's running to handle them after TTM until the 75 recycles.

In the future, I would run only a few fish in QT at a time to save your self this kind of headache.
