Ich medication

There is no medication that will rid your tank of ich. There are only a couple effective ways and the best and well known method is hyposalinity. You must take all the fish out and put them in a hospital tank for 4-5 weeks and leave your maintank fishless to kill off the parasite. There are dozens of threads started each week and plenty of pinned thread in the Reef forum and the Disease forum. There's also many articles written in Reef Keeping magazine to search for.

Also garlic does not "cure" ich. Major misconception. Yes it does help their immune system but the fish can not just "fight off" and kill the parasite that way.

There are lots of products that don't hurt corals; but they don't cure ich either. But, I get the feeling this isn't the info you're looking for.

Just looking for someone that has used the product in question an get their feed back. I can't believe that a company would bottle and product that doesnt do what they say it does. I that were the case anyone could be doing it, and it's really use to "say" something doesn't work unless you have first hand experience.

I really think reading opinions from real experts like Snorvich on RC, Bob Fenner, Scott Michael, Bob Goemans, and others ; is an awfully good substitute for personal experience. I'm certainly not going to try a product that every published author I know of considers second-rate, at best. The number of posts on this forum regarding "reef safe" ich cures has been a constant stream of failures since I've been active here. Most folks research potential cures and reject those that get bad reviews. Products like Kick-Ich may work (at least short term) sometimes, for some people. However, if these cures were dependable, word would spread like wildfire. I'm sure you'll find someone who has had a positive experience with this product; but only long-term success really counts with parasite control and I've never read of any regarding kick-Ich. But there will be some, I'm sure.

Basically, it does not work. Lots of companies bottle stuff that does not work. Lots of people are looking for the "silver bullet". Unfortunately, there is no "silver bullet".

i use cupermine in qt 6 to 8 weeks before addind fish to my d.t the only thing thats rids ich is a fishless tank for 8 weeks

I really like the input, but again if you haven't used the product I'm asking about please don't respond. I'm looking for someone that has used it and their experience that's all, thanks. I truly respect others advice and knowledge:)

snorvich is the most well-known expert on ich on this forum. all of the ich stickies are from him, so i would think you might wanna get his advice.

i (and about 1,000 other people) have used products like rid-ich, kick-ich, ich-attack, or anything other "reef-safe" medications that sounds like one of those. none of them works. yes they are reef-safe, and yes they are so safe that they don't do a thing for ich.

the ONLY scientifically proven methods to treat ich are copper, hyposalinity, and tank transfer.

Most people just want to hear about the quick & easy. Those of us who have been in this hobby long enough know there's nothing quick & easy (or cheap) about it. Sometimes knowing that really sucks, sometimes knowing that gives you a sense of accomplishment when you succeed at it. I'm a big believer in we learn by doing. So, when you tell a newbie that the only way to beat Ich is going fallow for 9 weeks and treating with copper/hypo/tank transfer, blah blah blah. And they're like, "OMG, are you friggin kidding me?" You can only hope that someday, after they've lost countless fish and it's cost them thousands of $$$s, that they'll eventually see the light and learn by doing.

yup, well-said... that's just human nature isn't it?

Yup, always looking for the quick & easy and succumbing to greed are our two biggest downfalls IMO.

Honestly, sometimes I can't even blame the newbies. I mean, who in the hell wants to hear that you have to leave your tank fishless for 9 weeks to eradicate a disease? Or that you need to wait 9 weeks before adding this cool new fish you just bought to your display? It totally sucks and zaps a lot of the thrill out of the hobby. So yeah, I get it.

Unfortunately, the alternative makes you feel a lot worse and hurts a lot more when you roll the dice and lose. I've been there. Waking up to dead fish, tearing your tank apart trying to catch fish, dealing with a QT full of sick fish, hoping they make it. You feel totally beaten and like a failure. So much so that a lot of folks just throw in the towel and give up when things like this go so terribly wrong.

So, it's a choice really: Forgo the thrill and instant gratification for the rewarding feeling of long-term success. Or roll the dice and take your chances. But anyone who gambles knows that eventually you lose.

Wow you guys must sit at home all day and just surf the forums. All that pointless typing! Essay length responses that don't and can't answer the question being asked. Why even bother guys really get a life and spend your time doing something meaningful.

Why waste all this time to type this? And act like you know me? If you haven't used the product I don't need your feedback.

This thread reeks of troll, but I will bite...

Ever heard of diet pills? Do they work? Nope. Then why do Americans buy millions of dollars worth of them per year? Because they are looking for the easy way out. Why would a company claimed their diet pills make you lose weight??? Money, that's why. Ask your doctor...but will you believe him?

Same dang priciple, dude.

Experts in the field are telling you the medicine you inquire about will not work. Sure, its reef safe, but it doesnt cure ich. Accept it, pick a scientifically proven plan, and do it.

Well, one of the functions of TeamRC and the RC staff is to keep the answers civil. If you want to ignore what is said, feel free. On the other hand, lose the attitude.
