I just introduced a maroon clown yesterday. This morning, I noticed a tiny white speck just under his dorsal fin. Should I be worried or take some kind of action?

Pull it out!!!!!!
i recently had a similar situation with a fish from one of the chain stores and before i knew it my entire reef tank became infected and lost some serious amount of fish & money because of it.

my advice is take the loss on one fish instead of potentialy loosing all of your fish

could be a speck of sand? also ich usually is in everybodies tank...if the fish are healty and not too stressed, the fish will overcome ich, before it becomes serious...if it spreads and you start to see a more and more specs[freshwater dip for a solid 10 minutes...ich usually lives in the sand...

occasionaly I see single spots on my fish but it usualy turns out fine, but have you had this fish quaritined?

no, im not sure if the store I bought it from had quarantined it either. Luckily the speck disappeared...not exactly sure what it was. What do I need to make a quarantine tank, as I probably should have one?

a ten gallon tank u can usually get a whole 'kit' for 30 or less. comes with a hood with an incadecent light, a hang on filter .. you'll probley need to get a heater seperately.

thing is, if it was id ck, youd need to quarentine your existing fish and leave your main tank fish free for at least 6 weeks to get the ick to die off.

I dident qt my first fish, but any fish you want to add later you DEF want to qt so no new fish get your existing fish sick

if you need to set up a qt tank now, use water from your main tank to fill it, new water wouldent have enough bacterias n stuff
