Hi rc people. I am another noob battling marine ich with cupramine as that seems to be the only thing that actually wipes it out. I'm a little upset and my fish are seeming to waste away in my quarantine for no real known reason. They don't really have ich very bad at all just doing it to wipe it out. I'm scratching my head and thinking of all the people who have great success with quarantining with cupramine and wondering how you do it. My thoughts were maybe we could have a sticky for all the noobs such as myself who really want a nice reef setup and are willing to do things the right way but don't want to kill 5-10 fish trying to figure things out. I was thinking maybe start kind of an ich handbook type of deal so there is a sort of set way to take care of it. For example start by talking about the proper way to set up a quarantine or hospital tank as well as some sort of a maintenance schedule so the water has pristine conditions while fish are in the quarantine and lastly a schedule for using cupramine as well as possibly signs to look for to see if fish are being stressed by it. What to buy before dosing it ie which copper test kits seeing as api and such don't work and also stress that the instructions on the bottle are far from accurate dosing at all. Just think it would be great if we could get a sticky on someone's quarantine procedures that really works well because I am sure there are some out there who really know their stuff on this subject and exactly how to do it. I'm just really frustrated right now because I'm basically watching 5 fish in my quarantine waste away when they were all very healthy just had like 4 little ich spots on each one and I don't want to kill fish or have to buy 200 dollars worth a replacement fish only to have the same thing happen. I have also not given up on the fish I currently have I will try to keep them alive until they're dead. I hope I'm not asking too much. Thanks for all the help so far and in the future to all the great people on reef central!
