Ich resistant Maroon Clown

Hi all,
This is my first post, just wanna say what a great site RC is.Down to business: I removed my Regal Tang,Raccoon Butterfly & Maroon Clown from my display tank to a 12 Gall (Imp) hospital tank because i couldn't get rid of that damn Ich! Although the Maroon Clown had never showed any sign of the disease,i thought it safer to treat them all. However, because of the small, sterile environment of the Q.T, the Tang started fin/tail nipping. After the first week of Q.T, i decided to put the Clown back into the dislplay tank for his own safety (bearing in mind he had never shown Ich symptoms). It is now approaching 4 weeks since the other fish have been in Q.T & i am thinking of returning them to main tank soon, however,i have read recently that the Clown could be a carrier of Ich even tho' he's never showed signs,
I need to know if this is hocus because the last thing i want to do is re-introduce the other fish & have the whole Ich cycle start again.
Your advice is appreciated.

Sorry I am no ich pro, however I believe if one fish has it they all have it. The maroon may be alittle healthier with a stronger immune system and is able to fight it off. I think all fish will need to be removed in order to clear it from your system. Hopefully someone else here can tell you how long.

To get rid of ich in a display tank normally means leaving it fishless for 6 to seven weeks. I would not call the clown a carrier, it may just be more resistant. The ich may have gotten on the clown long enough to keep their life cycle going. Some people believe ich is always present in any tank. I do not agree with the always present theory.

Leave fish in Qt tank for 4 to 6 weeks. Leave display tank Fallow for the same period of time.

In the QT tank treat with Hypo Salinity 1.010 SG for that period of time. Also Use Ruby Rid-Ich treatment as directed.

Is always a good idea and spend the extra money for a good UV light on display setup. Not worth taking the extra chance. Cut back on the parasites;)

If i put the Clown back into Q.T & the Tang starts nipping again,is it possible to separate them with an acrylic sheet in the Q.T?

Yes, or set up a separate quarantine out of a Rubbermaid tub. I believe Randy Holmes Farley said the Hypo should be at 1.009. It seems to be important enough to use a refractometer. I would at least check the desieze forum for the correct SG.
