Ich/velvet wiped entire tank, how to recover?

Hi all

So long story short, I had ICH/Velvet outbreak that killed every single fish in my tank and I'm now looking for the rebuild plan that will ensure I won't have the same issue.

I hit the post button too soon before finishing the post. Sorry.

So my plan for the display tank is:
1. Move all the invertibles to quarantine tank
2. Fill up the tank with fresh RODI water and run for 1 week
3. Drain the tank then refill saltwater and go through the cycle for a month.

Now I'm also reading about running the tank without any fish for 8 weeks, during this process I can still add corals into the tank but 8 week will reset from the day the new corals being added.

I have to say the second option if it is a legit option sounds very temping. But I don't know how reliable that is.

You can treat the tank with chemicals or just leave the as is no fish. If remember correctly ich or velvet will eventually die off, if they can't find a host. I also trying to prepare my self for this type of outbreak. I'm looking into this product dr g's marine aquaculture treatment, still researching more. Good luck

Just let your tank running without fish 90 days. Remember quarantine your new fishes carefully.

You need some medicine on hand for quarantining: Formalin MS, Prazipro, Ick Shield powder.

For new fish, I often dip in Formalin in 50 min, then do tank transfer method (TTM). Dose Prazipro on 1st and 3rd round. Finally, dip in Seachem Paraguard in 1 hour.

Best of luck

Thanks guys for your input. I was pretty lucky with new fish w/o quarantine until now. Therefor I don't even have any meds on hand.

I'm going to setup a quarantine tank for sure. In terms of medication, I don't have access to formalin and I'm considering mainly Seachem products since they are readily available to me.

My plan is following:
Upon arrival: RODI dip for 5 minutes
1st week: Paraguard treatment
2nd week:
Continue Paraguard treatment
Feed Metroplex/Focus mix with Garlic guard
3rd week:
Continue Paraguard treatment
Feed Kanaplex/Focus mix with Garlic guard
4th week:
Stop Paraguard and additional meds in food if no signs of infections. Then they stay one more week in QT before I can move them to display tank.

I may replace Paraguard with Cupramine if there's severe infections found.

What do you guys think about my plan? Should I also run hypo salinity as well?

RODI water dips are very hard on fish. I'm not sure that a 5 minute dip will accomplish much. I can't comment on Paraguard since I have never used it.
