Ich wiping out all new additives!!!!!!!

wow thanks for all the replies guys. i didnt mean to get a huge debate started here. but basically the above poster pretty much has my issue sumed up. the reason im against moving the fish i have now out of my dt and putting them into qt is because ive found lots of times the initial shock of catching them then transferring them to a new tank even without meds can lots of times kill them. aside from the obvious reasons of ruining my aquascape possible crushing/killing fish and coral in the process and stirring up tons of detritus and causing a massive nitrate spike.

i did however have an awesome yellowtang for about 6 months that never had any visible signs of ich although im sure he infact had it because of my original hippo which started this whole disaster in the first place. but he was perfectly fine and then i decided to go ahead and move him and the rest of my livestock over to qt per everyones advice. and he was fine for about a week then dropped dead, im sure because of the shock of being moved when if i had left him alone he would probably still be alive. and this was without meds. i wanted to let them get acclimated before treating with copper as ive heard this can be pretty rough on fish.

heres the one thing im really puzzled with here though. like i said previously my lfs has ich teaming in their system i mean every tang that comes in is iched up and they have had some in the for quite some time. not that this has anything to do with that but there water quality is also garbage. i mean the girl that works tested theyre water and showed me thier nitrates and phosphates are off the charts. as to how they keep in coral alive especially nems in their tanks ill never know.

but back to the point i know there is only one proven cure for this which is infact to qt. i guess really everything when it comes to "holistically" treating it is pretty much up for debate. but ive seen cases on here where people who have incredibly hard to keep fish on here like achilles and still with "overfeeding" are able to atleast combat the disease. also i forgot to mention i feed my fish flake, nori, brine, and mysis also soaked in garlic. but i did see something the other day oddly on instagram of a guy who had his own remedy and swore by it and ive never seen anyone else really apply it in this manner. he said he would soak the food in seachem vitality and kent garlic extreme and then he would metronidazole to the cocktail. and this dude has a really nice reef. i read up before on metronidazole and as to whether or not it was reef safe. but i guess if its going directly into theyre mouths not much of it is getting out into the water. would love to hear your guys thoughts on this.

Finally like said the only fish ive really added within the last 2 months or so has been starry blennies. are they a lot more suceptible to ich than others??? theyre the only blennies ive owned so i dont have much to go by.
