I too have used Herbtana in my 185 g mixed reef (with anemone) tank. And, did so in a diluted form and it worked well. Spots gone by next day and only one treatment. At first dose the corals did 'bubble up' and recede but after a couple of hours came back just fine, anemone closed up but after a couple of hours also fine. Now at the first sign of any spot on any fish, I give one dose and everything goes away.

One thing that I found 'interesting' is that when I dose Herbtana it looks like small white spots release into the water column ... don't know exactly what that is but it clears up after a few hours. I also continue to run the protein skimmer (and yes, foams like crazy so watch it).

I sounds like ich keeps coming back; if so, it hasn't been cured and is still in your tank. . It may stay manageable for a while; but (IMO & IME) it will return and become a serious problem. Maybe not, but you sure have to stay vigilant.

I had some diseased fish in a new tank. It's difficult to diagnose the dieseases. In the end i'm failry certain amongst other things that the fish had ICH. I waited and hoped...

If you don't want to lose your fish then I reccomend removing them to a seperate tank, if you are short on money go to a hardware store and pick up a 10G Rubbermade Brute container.

Sometimes a seperate tank is just not feasable for one reason or another, in that case I'd reccomend doing everything you can to keep water quality up (WC's, Change Filters, Ect), but don't start dosing the main tank with stuff IMO.

One way I help prevent it was to QT all the fish I buy from the store, no matter who it was from. It isn't worth taking any chances.
I typically use Prazipro as a predip, then quarantine them in cupramine solution for the next few weeks to possibly month depending on how strong they are after the grace period and if they are eating. Definitely want them healthy before I introduce them to the new tank mates.
I also was told ich eggs hatch from sand only, if it's bare bottom, it's rare that they will thrive. Hope that helps.

That's another myth. If you have any live rock, the ich will simply fall there instead. and it will sit on a barebottom as easily as on sand. Barebottoms are easier to vacuum and you may get some of it up that way. But ich does not hatch from sand only.

Right, of course. Ich can spend its dormant time in rock, floating around in the water column, filter media, glass bottoms, on crabs or corals. Anywhere. That's why you QT everything, not just fish. Bare bottoms are easier if you have to use meds too, they don't absorb them.
