Ich?

Guys,
When I bought my Yellow tang, there were no white spots on the fish. Now I am seeing one white spot on his dorsal fin. Could that be Ich? He is a small 3 inch tang. If its ich, what size tank should I get for quarantining? Can you please tell me what will be the best way to catch him. He is too fast and I have lots of hiding places in my 75g tank.
Thanks,
Vick

It is hard to say if it is ick, but if it gets worse and you put him QT, you will only reinfect it when you return it to the display, assuming that there are still other fish in the display. Your best bet is to use a fish trap to remove it, and you might want to get all other fish out if possible and feasible. If you do, you will want to have the display empty for 8 weeks to eliminate the ick, as their won't be any hosts for the parasite to infect and the lifecycle should be broken.

Pardon the ignorance but what is a "fish trap"?

They sell commercial fish traps but most people make a funnel trap out of a bottle. The size of the bottle depends on what you wish to catch. You cut the top tapered section off of a bottle and invert it in.
