I got a yellow tang, looked great in the store. Did not QT. That was Sunday afternoon. Tuesday, he is eating great but I think I see white spots, just a few, scattered around

Monday morning, finally caught him for a QT. I don't see the spots anymore, but the lighting is not as good now.

Since this is such a sort time, can did avoid releasing ick into the tank, if that is what it is? It seems like it should just be contained on the tang, based on the life cycle of the parasite from what I have read. It would just be in the trophont stage, and since it was only for a day, I would not expect the cyst would have dropped off. If they have they are still at the tomont, so is the any medication to dose the tank before other fish are infected?

Catching all the fish in the tank is not possible, the rocks are too large and encrusted with sps, and catch a watchman in the sandbed and small clown goby and bicolor blenny will be impossible with all the corals.

You are not going to want to hear this but no one ever does. When you introduce ich to your tank the only way to rid it is a fishless tank. The odds are in your favor that your established fish will not get it because they have their slim coat and are not stressed. In my opinion ich will not kill fish if the fish are healthy. If the fish are stressed then there is a possibility the ich could stress them more causing a problem. You might as well treat the tang and get him fat and healthy then put him back in your tank. He might come back down with ich when you out him back but hopefully he will be less stressed and be able to fight it off.

so....he has been in hypo qt for 4 weeks at this time. No signs of ick in the qt or the display.

Should I move him back to the display? I would think if anything were to happen, it would have done so by now.

The more i think about it, the more I think I may have jumped the gun ok ick. Any other reason i would see a few assorted white spots?

Anyone?
