I've been battling ick my tank for 2 weeks now and fish are starting to get worse not (not eating , sliming , covered in white dust , cloudy eyes etc.). I have a 240 FOWLR but the cured live rock has only been in tank for 3 days. I had two big pieces of Living Color art. coral before the live rock. Any way before I put the live rock in the tank most all my fish have showed symptoms of stress. I have 8'Golden puffer ,7'Aus. tusk,8' Miniatus Grouper,7' Blue spot grouper,7'Polleni grouper, and last a 7' Gold heart trigger. I love all these fish and don't want to loose any of them. This is what I've done so far, First before I put the live rock in the tank I treated 1 week with Quick cure I've always had good luck with it this time had liitle effect. Then did a 50 gallon water change ro di water with no salt brought the salinity down to .014 I know its not .009 like your supposed to for hypo treatment but first time trying hypo so a little scared to drop much more afraid of stressing them out more. I raised temp to 82 from 80. My water is as follows ammo. 0, Nitrite 0, nitrates between 60 and 80. I know my nitrates are high but I've always had high nitrates, and the tank has been running saltwater for 5 years, thats what I'm trying to control with the live rock.ph was low 7.8 buffered upto 8.2 and 8.3. I have pretty much left the tank alone for about 4 days and things are getting worse. Puffer and Tusk are showing most symtoms. I was told now that I have rock in my tank not to use the Quick Cure from AP any more but to try Kent RXP. Anybody use this before with any success? Also I fresh water dipped all the fish more than once with very little effect. My filtration is as follows 33 gallon sump with bio balls and about 50 lbs of live rock, 1.5 inch live sand bed, and 180 lbs of live rock in the display. Mini 200 skimmer from Bubble King, and a 25 watt uv . Please I need help before its to late. Thanks Alan

That's terrible after 5 years. Hope they recover soon.
I recently heard of Ektomarin by Aquarium Munster. never used it myself but worth looking into it.
Next time when you buy so called Cure LR, Q/T for while in plastic containers (PH, heaters). Even cured Lr needs to be recured after shipping. If buying from lfs, take the rock out and smell it. if rotten smell , definitely need to be recured. It should have natural ocean smell.
I would always Q/T any new LR for few weeks before introducing them to tank.
Protozoan parasite such as Crypto (marin ick), Amylood(marine velvet) are obligate parasite which means can not survive w/o host for long time.

For now, if possible, remove all the rocks and do Hyposalinity Method. Google for proper Hypo procedure. Sooner you act, better chance you have. If i remember correctly, Med does not have any affect on parasite while on host. It can only kill parasite at certain stage of their life cycle when they are off the host. I would not dose w/ Cu since have LR and or Inverts.

I would said Hypo is way to go at this stage.

Wish you Luck!

The LV I got was in QT for 3 weeks and you could not smell any oder on rock at all. I got the rock from a friend of mine that services aquariums for a living. He got the rock from a wholesaler in Tampa and then cured it for for 3 weeks water changes and ph monitor. Rock was def cured before I put in the tank. They had full symptoms of ick before I put the rock in the tank. Hope I didn't make things worse putting the rock in while they were sick. Also I was told that my Tusk and puffer cannot take the Hypo treatment is that true? Maybe thats why they are suffering the worst. Come to hink of it the puffer showed little signs of being sick until I fresh water dipped him 3 days ago and hes been going down hill ever since. Any thoughts??

So it's not the LR.
Personally usued to do repeated F/W bath for 3-5 minutes w/o any withdrawls while being kept in Q/T @ SG of 1.014-16. Even tusks and puffers. Tusk being more sensitive to changes, may do shorter time of bath. From what i found recently, Hypo is procedure that lots of hobbyist is doing to eradicate parasitic infection. Google for proper procedure. Try go on to reefland(s)?? forum. You may be able to find more info from there.
