Ick or Brook in display tank...help!

Hello,

I am new to this site and had a question and need for advice on how to most effectively treat a parasitic problem without possibly having to remove all fish from the display tank and setting up a "hospital" tank.

I have a 90 gallon fish only tank with with some inverts (2 cleaner shrimp, 5 turbo snails, and 4 electric blue hermit crabs, and sand sifting starfish). I do not have LR but rather used lace/bowl rock and have sand as the substrate.

My fish list is as follows : 2 ocellaris clowns, 1 black saddleback clown, 1 small sailfin tang, 1 small blue hippo tang, 5 green chromis, 1 dispar anthias, 1 bi-collor dottyback, 1 yellow coris wrasse, 2 bi-color chromis, 1 bi-color angel, and 1 bi-color blenny.

I guess my question is, would it be feasible/OK for me to remove the inverts and put them in their own small tank while I treat the whole display? I have chosen to purchase a Formalin medication that is 37% formaldehyde solution. I chose this because I have read it is one of a few treatments for Brook (just in case that's what my fish are suffering from and it also treats ick). From what I understand, this solution will only stick around in the water for a few hours after treatment so I am not so worried about dangers for re-introducing the inverts after medicating the fish. One of my concerns is whether or not formaldehyde will kill my biological filtration and if I will be better off TRYING to catch all the fish and putting them in a smaller tank to reduce the size of the water changes. I would really like to avoid having to catch the fish but I would like some opinions on this.

Even though only my black saddleback clown, and 2 ocellaris are cloudy eyes and trouble breathing, my tang has been happily been living with white spots and a cloudy eye for about a day now. All the other fish in the tank seem normal with the exception of some scratching against the substrate or rocks. I could treat the ones that look more involved but would rather want to treat them all since it's almost a given that the whole tank is infested with either ick or brook. I know I need to do something ASAP!

I am limited in space where I live so the largest hospital tank I could set up would be about a 20L. Any insight on whether I can treat the main tank or not would be appreciated. Thanks!

Actually I am going to try hyposalinity in the whole tank, with Formalin dips for the most compromised fish. I am too nervous about adding Formalin to the whole system because I have been getting mixed information on the effects it may have on the biological filter.

Yes, that is sorta what I am doing now. I have my entire system at Hypo as I didnt have any inverts yet. run it in Hypo for 5 weeks.
