ICK or something else???

I see ICK is a common issue.

So I have a coral beauty with 3 spots. 1 on the tip top of the dorsal fin, and 2 on the pectoral fin. The spots are on the left side of the fish. I freshwater dipped it for 6 mins. the spot on the pectoral fin fell off in the dip, and I barely brush the dorsal fin and that one fell off as well. So now she's stuck with one spot on the pectoral fin. It's ben eating like a pig, swimming fine, chasing other fish, breathing normally, and there are no sighns around the gil area. Last night I added some stress coat to my tank.

ALL my fish were fresh water dipped for a min of 5 mins, Meth Blue dipped, quarantined for a min of 2 weeks,and drip acclimated on each move.

My tank readings are 78'F, 1.025, 8.2pH, 10 dkh, 360 cal, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 10 nitrate.

I have 2 clowns, 4 chromis's, 1 yellow tang, 1 coral beauty, 2 bristle stars, 1 baby bristle star, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 sea slug,some snails, some hermits, 3 turbos, 4 groups of Xenia, a colony of star polyps, some mushrooms, and 2 flordia rics, and approx 75 lbs of live rock.

I don't want to loose a tank of fish!!

I'm really Stressing about this! ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Dennis,

It's a tough call. I'm not sure you have the correct diagnosis, so advice is hard to give.

What does the spot look like? color? size? shape?

Can you post a photo of what you're seeing? A closeup, clear photo would be great.

In the meantime, boost the health of all your fish with foods you soak in vitamins and fats. I'd add beta glucan to their food for the time being, according to this post:

The spot looks like a faint grain of salt. The 2 that came off looked like white grains of salt.

Picture wise, now it wont turn out, you can't even tell its there unless you really look.

My LFS advised me to turn the temp on my tank up to 81'F and wait a few days to see what happens. They also said that adding the stress coat was a good thing.

I'm also lookin at adding some of thosevitamins and fats to all my fishes foods. I'll be picking that up tonite.

I'm still concerned. My hospital tank is too small for all my fish to be moved into it (10 gallon tank).

I'm not sure why your LFS is advising turning up the temperature. If it is because they think that if it is Marine Ich it will move through its cycle faster, then you need to find an LFS that actually knows about Marine Ich.

I would not and see no reason to raise the temperature. In fact, raising the temperature reduces the amount of gas that can dissolve in water, which includes reducing the oxygen content. If your fish is stressed, you want to increase oxygen and thus decrease the stress.

1st - I'm positive it wasn't air bubbles.
2nd - The spots have dissapeared.

Ya, I questioned the temp raising as well. I did turn it up a bit and added some vita chem. I went from 77.2'F to 79.4'F. My corals are doing alot better with the slight adjustment! My fish are also moving alot more as well.
