When I QT new fish for my system I put them in a 10g tank that get feed water from the main system. if a fish has Ick, durring the phase when it falls off to reproduce, will it "swim" to find substrate or will it just fall to the bottem of this bare bottemed setup.

I dont think ICH swims, I think it tends to go with the flow of the water. It should land wherever the flow of the water carries it to.

I DID :sad1: have two black and white striped bannerfish in a qt tank that is connected to my sump. my display is empty because of ICK, so i was wondering if it could transfer from my display into the secondary tank. I am not sure why the bannerfish died, i think they were just too small, just bigger than a quarter.

Yeah Im pretty sure both tanks could easily be infected. It is best to have your QT completely seperate from your display.
