ive been battling ick for a wile now. so long all my fish died. now how can i get ride of it from my tank. what do i dose. did i say ick sucks.

leave tank fishless for 8-10 weeks and quarantine new fish for the same amount of time.
ick will die off without a host. imo (but not everyone agrees with this method, some believe it will still be there, i don't though) i always quarantine new fish

Your best option is to get a used tank cheap off craigslist or your local reef forum/club. Every responsible reefer will learn a QT tank is a MUST in this hobby.

My local petsmart had a sale on 10g w/ hood for $30 and $40 for a 20g. You mentioned all your fishes have died. So, does that mean you're currently fish-less? If so, leave it that way for 6-12weeks. You don't need to treat the main tank with anything if it's fish-less. I'd recommend using copper medication on hospital/quarantine tanks only.

Copper in your main tank will leach into your rock and sand. It will kill your inverts (snail, shrimp, pods, all that kind of stuff). Not to mention any coral you may have. Basicly you will be stuck will a fish only tank for as long as you have it.

I have a small 5-6 gallon tank with an aquaclear 20 hang on back power filter. It makes a decent -little- quarantine if you have rather small fish. Just requires some attention to water params. I use stress coat, stress zyme, and/or amquel+ to help keep ammonia under control. I suspect this would be fine for just a couple small clowns, a small wrasse and the like. If you expect to quarantine larger fish... tangs, etc. Then you need to upsize substantially.

Just a word of note, keep your QT tank items seperate from your display items. You don't want to accidentally introduce something from the QT.. and some of the nasty bugs you could be treating for could hitch a ride on an airline, pvc tubing, airstone... etc etc.

Good advice.

For bigger fish, buy a rubbermaid or sterilite plastic container. You can get really big ones for not too much money. They are easy to take down and store when not in use.

I dont have another tank for a qt. What do you suggest.

Buy one - a good QT setup can cost less then one tang. If you buy a new setup, you're looking at $50-$100, if you buy pre-owned setup from craigslist or your LFS, you're looking at anywhere from free to $50.

Never add copper to your display tank.... For several reasons. You are likley to have serious ammonia spikes bc copper will kill so may living things in your tank, you will never be able to keep and corals or other inverts, and the sand and rock will absorb the copper making it extremely difficult to monitor and maintain the proper concentration of copper to be effective. You will have to set up some type of qt system and leave your DT fish free for 6-8 weeks... Ich is the most frustrating part of this hobby. But we have all been there, we all learn from our mistakes... Hang in there, don't give up.. Good luck
