When I get a fish that I know has ich (make sure it is ich and not a similar looking disease like brook) I treat with Cupramine for two weeks and then observe for any return of symptoms for at least six additional weeks. There's nothing wrong with trying to save a sick fish, but keep in mind that if the disease process is far enough along there may be nothing that you can do to save them. If they are eating your chances are much better.

This is the nature of ich.

If you treat in time, the success rate is very high, virtually 100%.

If you start too late, your fish dies.
