so im new to the forums so hello to every one but to my problem, ok so i have ick on a sailfin tang i had it on my blue hippo tang and was able to quarintine it in a 20 gallon for now, but problem is i know its still in the system so how can i kill it as i only have my quarintine and display tank so i cant put my fish in quarintine for the 6 weeks any other options. iv been feeding with garlic i tried ick attack in the display and i have copper in the quarintine. thanks

the only way to rid the DT of existing icy is to leave it fallow for 8-10 weeks.

leave your fish in QT in the meantime. if your QT is not cycled, prepare to do large amount of water change everyday until there's enough bacteria colony built up.

my only problem leaving them in qt is that i feel it would be too small especially for the sailfin tang.and if i leave it fallow for 6 weeks and change 100% of the water to get rid of the free swimming parasite and medicate with kick ick or something would that garuntee that it is out of the system

The post by sandwi54 is exactly right. Ich cannot be killed, except in the free-swimming stage. that takes time and there is no another way around it. IMO, Kick-Ich is not much or an ich med anyway. The tangs can handle the QT, it might not be perfect; but you can buy a bigger QT or guarantee the return of ich. When you are over this, use the QT on all new livestock, LR, etc----and never go through this again. BTW, garlic may help appetite, but does nothing to directly eliminate ich.
