ID and care advice please

REEF-DADDY

New member
I bought this piece from a fellow reefer. In his tank the base was much lighter and the piece had more color. I suspect too much light as this is the only coral that is browning out on me. Normally I would move the piece but its well encrsuted to the rock. Thoughts?

Well, it's difficult to tell when the coral is mostly just encrusting (encrustation?). If it's browned out, that's an indication of too little light, or poor water quality. My best stab would be A. Cerealis.

I know its not too little light as the coral is right under the 400w radium hqi(147 ppfd). I do have between 5-7 ppm No3 in my tank but it has not caused any of the other sps to brown. Unless this piece is really sensitive to any level of No3. I guess thats what I hope to find out by ID'ing it.

OK thats what I needed to know. I have a plan in place to lower No3. I am going to go that route before I chip it off the rock
