ID / clam newbie help

Hi I have just picked up two clams, but am unsure of the ID. But if I had to put money on it I would say squamosa. Is this right?
If so, do they prefer sand? because I'm having trouble keeping it up right, the foot isn't doing much.

they are maximas,you will need to move them up closer to the light but do it slowly. do you have MH

So they should be on the rocks?

I have 2x 250W 14K MH

you should be ok with the 250's, but if you see any bleaching or over extending of the mantle they should be moved up closer to the light.

place a small piece of LR or empty shell under the clams ( bury it in the sand a little to help at first ) the clams will attach to that and then can be moved around if required.
