Hey I guess you can't find a good answer from MARS people.. that's ok, I am curious about them myself. Thanks for the persistancy to find out the truth!
It appears to be a Marginellid, small snail that commonly called peppermint snail. Do a search using pepermint as a keyword and it should bring some hits describing them.
Aside from that, I have few of them in my tank that came from couple of different online vendors as a members of detritivore package. I had no problems whatsoever with them.

Thanks for the info. Steven I just want to be absolutely sure of what they are. I didn't want to overreact if they were just cleaning up, but I don't want anything in there that is preying on my other critters either.
