ID help please

I looked in my tank this morning and saw this. Theyr'e light brown and move when I shine a flashlight on them. They look like they may polyps, but I'm not sure. Any help will be appreciated.

NOt an expert but it looks like button polyps to me.

I've never seen any of my buttons move when shining a light on them. In fact they all close up at night. No idea on them really. When I first looked I thought maybe hydroids, but I'm not really familiar with those. Hopefully someone can ID them.

Actually they look like Majano Anemone to me. Can you get a brighter pic? If they're Majano, you wanna get rid of them!!

they are weeds. I forgot the name for them, but they can take over a tank. get a couple peppermint shrimp

I just moved the rock they are on to give them more light. They closed up really tight. I don't think they're weeds, they react to light.

Much better picture the second time! I may be wrong but they don't look like majanos at all to me. More like aiptasia maybe. Maybe post a pic in the invertebrate forum.

Never saw a button close up when shining a light on them. Light is what makes mine open.

Duff Man - do they close up quickly when you shined the light on them? Go into the rock or not? They look like buttons, but don't act like buttons based on the quick reaction to light that you seem to be saying?

either get some Joes juice, Lemon juice, vinegar, hot water and shoot it right into them. Or you could get a couple of peppermints and they will be gone tomarrow. You do not want those aiptaisa multiplying, they can be a hassel later.

I guess I didn't see how quickly they closed up after I moved the rock. When I first saw one move, it just jerked a little when I shined the flashligh on it. I have shined the light on it a few times since and it didn't move. I did move the rock to bring it into more light, that's when they closed up. I moved the rock to it's original place and they are open now. Here's a side view.

Thanks for all the relpies and info. I have to call it quits for the evening. I'm going to move the rock closer to the light tomorrow to see how they react after being under them for a while. I'll post the results, check it out if you want.

Looks like Palythoa a.k.a. button polyps to me. They'll react a bit to changes in light, curent, hermits, snails etc. Just cause they can move doesn't mean they're aiptasia
