I tried to get ID's on these 2 a few months back but they were too small and photos were not clear enough. I hope these are better

The first is a porcelein crab of some sort.. that I know.. but can't find a true name for him. When looking up proceleins.. I only find the white anemone and a blue one. Seen many pics of different ones.. but haven't found a match with a name...

The Spotted Porcelain Crab is an exquisite reef safe crab. They are reef safe, peaceful, and will not harm other invertebrates or corals.

The Hawaiian Zebra Hermit is an algae eater and found along the rocky shorelines of Hawaii.

I knew it might be to good to be true about the porcelain!! lol

I knew that the one hermit is a zebra :)

My main curiousity is about the mysterious red/pick/tan with blue eyed hermit!!! Its so weird looking!!
I'm hoping LeslieH will be able to identify :o

Hi there ;)

The procelain crab should be Petrolisthes galathinus or a morph or species out of the P. galathinus complex which includes also P. rosariensis, caribensis (with two color morphs itself), columbiensis, sanmartini and bolivarensis.

The bright hermit crab might be a Pagurus but it is hard to say from these pictures.

Looks somewhat similar to some Paguristes I've seen...but from the photos though it is hard to see if the arms are different or more-or-less the same in build so I wouldn't even call that a proper guess yet. Do you have any other pictures that are more clear, particularly for the arms? Any info on collection location?

Hm, the only pic I can find is here: http://users.skynet.be/fa311324/article/hermit.htm – and that it is not. It's very alike and strengthens our guess of the genus Pagurus, but it is not the species which is titled P. birtimanus there as far as I can see. But I don't know if this species really is valid – I'm no expert in hermits.

This resource also has a picture of Clibanarius vittatus labeled as Phimochirus holthuisi. Not being familiar with many of the species that page shows, I have to wonder how many other mistakes are present.
