I'd like to figure this one out

Hard to get the real color, but the bulk of the coral is a soft yellow
with pastel purple tips.

a.granulosa, seems very open though. check out fragfarmers skittles granny.

Yes, they do look somewhat similar. Here is the skittles granulosa for comparison

Anyone else agree or have a different opinion?

I cannot really tell from the pictures you posted. I'm not sold that they are the same. The corallites are much more rounded on the granulosa, but the colors are certainly similar.

that piece is about 8 inches big.

I'm working on getting better camera.I have three,one at bottom(its the thickest as in coralits,the one on top is strechier and skinny.They are all the same frags,I've noticed some corals grow diferent under more light.
