As many of you know I plan on beginning a small, 18-23 gallon Zoas garden come fall. These are the Zoas I will be taking from my boyfriend's, god910, tank. I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind they are. I've seen them on sights for sale, but noone has had a specific name for them. Thanks for looking and the feedback.

i believe them to be dragon eyes; do they look like the ones on the right close up?

Upon close inspection, they do.

What kind of camera do you use? I could never get a pic with the blue ring next to the skirt if I tried. :) Also what kind of lights do you have them under. I have the T5s, two 60/40s and two actinics. Mine never look that good though!

Thanks.

that is under a 400w 14k hamilton and two vho actinics.

camera: that was taken with an olympus c700 ultra zoom i believe, but now i have an olympus e-500 dslr, and i really like the camera, just need a macro lens for it. the keys imo to taking good close ups are a tripod, turning the water flow off or down, and using a remote so your hand doesn't make the camera move when you press the button.

Yeah, I'd have gone with dragon eyes, too.

A trick for close up shots with less than SLR cameras is to back up and zoom in (with the macro funtion on). I zoom in as close as I can before going to digital zoom and get it to focus (press the button half way until the green box appears around the center of what I'm photo'ing), then take it in closer for digital zoom. To get the initial focus before going into digital zoom, you will likely have to back up, or it will say something like unable to focus (mine does, anyway). Once you get it to green box and zoom in, you can usually get some decent shots. However, for every good close up I get, I delete 3-4, so it is a trial and error thing. I need an SLR...

i need an SLR also. i have a bunch of stuff i've never taken pictures of, b/c its so frustrating to see terrible pics of stuff so cool looking, so i just delete them all.

twon8 has some the best pics ive ever seen, they literally look life-like, just like they are in his tanks.
