Got a frag of this at the LFS today. pretty gelatinous, slimy feel to it. any tips on getting it to anchor? I've tried with another red gelatinous algae before, but it never stayed put.

That is an awesome macro mate. I've already done something pretty similar, squeezed it into a crack, then wedged it in there with a little pebble. should be all good though. Thanks :)

I would hope in over 5 years the OP has found a way to attach the algae :)

In general, the slick/gelatinous/delicate macros like that can be very difficult to attach longterm. The best way is not to put any direct pressure on the macroalgae itself. My favorite method is a small zip tie. Put it around the base of the macro, tight enough so it doesn't slip off the branch but not putting any pressure on the macro. Then superglue the zip tie to a small rock or piece of rubble, and put the rock where you want the algae to stay. Rubberbands will work in the short run, but will end up over time cutting through the macro or degrading in the saltwater and breaking.
