ID Please (i'm pretty sure its a softy)

Saw this at the LFS, guy on shift didn't know what it was.

Looks like a purple Gonipora which is an LPS coral.

The purple are the polyps attached to their skeleton then that skeleton is attached to a piece of rock.
 
That could be, but to me it seems to have a higher density of polyps than most stylocoeniella I've seen pictures of. You do bring up a good point.
 
When back to the LFS tonight and the “fish lady” said it was a unhappy Gonipora, still not sure that’s right.

The polyps are small and close to the skeleton like a stylocoeniella, but are very close together and overlap like a gonipora.

Maybe a mod can move this to the LBS forum (to avoid a double post)

I'm not terribly familiar with the species in the genus of stylocoeniella, but I know some species have polyps that are spaced wide apart and there are some that have polyps closer together. Here is an example of one where the polyps really resemble your piece.
