This is a morph that happened/is happening in my tank right now, just curious if anyone has seen it before or has a name on it? Otherwise will send it in to coralpedia for the heck of it

I know it looks a lot like a paly in some ways, but it's morphed from a zoa so that'd be a little weird :eek2:

Thanks for any info folks!

Wow.....those are pretty close. Only difference I'm seeing is decidedly more green in the Desert's, and a lot less "splotchiness" of the white color on the disc.

Enough difference to make it a seperate, or should be lumped together?

Do you happen to have a picture of the zoas before they started to morph? Otherwise they look pretty sweet.

Yea, on the rock they morphed from I actually have Zoa's undergoing the entire process from start to finish. I'm tempted to run a thread to see who can guess what these morphed from first, only reason I'm not showing the sequence just yet (other reason being the desire to ensure their morph holds in a different tank, which is why they got put on frag plugs.)

How long did it take them to change-morph? BTW they look great.

Thanks, and I honestly don't know. They started doing it as soon as I got the rock, which I believe might have been caused by the PC's that were running at the time. I've honestly never tracked the time period to morph, but I do have many Zoas that aren't fully morphed, and not too many that are at this finished stage, so I'm guessing awhile. I've had the colony maybe 18 months or so.

here's some pics taken last night. The first pics I posted are from when I pulled a few of the Zoa's off the main colony that was in my 34 gallon display and put the frags into my "frag" tank. I wanted to see how they'd respond in a different tank, so here's the newer pics.

Some purple Deaths are over on the side there
