ID please...this is a frogspawn, right?

Been wanting a frogspawn for a long time now, and finally found a head for only 10 bucks! However, the LFS owner insisted that it wasnt frogspawn......just wanted to ask RC and see what you guys think?....

Looks like frogspawn to me.

Also a little like a frog/hammer hybrid.

Looks more like a hammer coral to me or even a torch. Whats everyone else think? Hammer? Torch? Doesn't look like a frogspawn though.

The coloration says frogspawn, but the form says torch. And here I thought I was so Euphyllia-savvy!

Either way, Im still really happy with the purchase! Just gives me a good excuse to buy another "Frogspawn". : ) But I thought that the tentacles on torch coral had only a single head......these ones look like tentacles growing on bigger tentacles, and some with multiple heads......?

There have been a number of those working their way into the hobby over the last year or two. They have the tips of a Hammer/paraancora, but here and there youll see a tentacle 'bubble' into smaller divisions like a Frogspawn/paradivisa does. I have yet to see a definitive ID on these, and around here weve just been referring to them as either Frogspawns or Hybrids (whether they are or not.. who knows).

Yeah it's crazy. I thought I had a hammer for the longest time (over a year). Then I added more flow to the reef because of coral growth and the coral took on a frog spawn appearence as it started to gain more and more "bumps & bubbles". So now I have some branches that look like they're frog spawn and some looking like a hammer.

Anyways, great color morph!!! I think you have either a frog or a frog/hammer hybrid.

Hammer,torch or frogsprawn, either way still a nice piece for 10. buck's. But it look's to me like a branching hammer.
