i just found a crab in my sump ive never seen before. (3 yrs old set-up)
he resembles an Acro Crab. tiny pinchers, almost identical shaped body, except he is reddish/rust colored. his legs are what is so trippy, they are pink and white bands.
ive looked and cant find an ID, can someone please help?

TIA

second one down on the right in the Porcellanidae family looks alot like it, except the pinchers are tiny like an Acro. the color is solid on his body, no white at all.
hes is not living on an acro, but he is picking the LR like a hermit.
cool site im gonna save this one, thanks!

Does he look like this without the white things in his claws?

pretty much, except he is a little darker in color, more of a rust/crimson on the body. and the claws have no fuzzy appearance.

These are Pom Pom Crabs. They only get to be about an inch max. There pom poms are actually tiny anenomes but most lose theirs throughout their life if they don't have a source to re-harvest them.

They are reef safe. I have one in my tank itself.

cool, should i just leave him in the sump for now? he has plenty of LR, Mysids, pods, etc... there are also GSPs, he hasnt touched them.

That is my crab, donated the pic taken in my shot glass for his site. He lives hapily in my fuge, hasn't grown in 6 months of having him. Maybe the size of a dime total with his legs. Pretty cool little guy.
