I bought these two clowns awhile back in the hopes of breeding them. The larger one (with the yellow tail) appears to have taken the role of female, and I've seen the submission dance from the smaller one with the black tail. When I bought them they looked the same, but now you can see the different tails. So before I move them to their new home I just wanted to make sure it wasnt a lost cause. Also the tank they'll be going into is a 30 gal breeder whre I also intend to have an LTA (macrodactyl doreensis) or two, would three be way too much? At the same time would it be okay to add a couple more juveniles? This tank is connected into a large multi-tank system ( over 300 gals ) if it makes any difference.

Definately not akins... They look more like A. sebae than clarkii. Pretty sure, but not a 100%.

I was thinking Clarkii on the female (yellow tail), but the male (back tail) I dont know, maybe just some variation.

They appear to be Amphiprion clarkii to me. They're definitely not A. sebae because those have only two white bars and the second white bar slants towards the rear at the top and covers the rear part of the dorsal fin. Clarkii clownfish have that third white bar at the base of the caudal fin, Sebae clowns do not.

And, of course, Clarkii clowns will accept all ten clownfish-hosting anemones.

I just got a very similar looking pair although no orange on the pec fins, all white tail. Hoping their sebae but probably not. Don't what to hi-jack but I will post pics tomorrow
