Yeppers, that's a Garibaldi. Depending on where it was collected, it may do better in a temperate setup (this fish is common off the S. CA coast).

I just moved to Carson from Torrance...
 
Gets very large for a damselfish, max size is about 10 inches (30cm). This guy will certainly do better in a cold water tank, it is not a tropical fish.
 
aren't they the largest of all Damsel species? 30cm is scary big for a Damsel a with an attitude...beautiful fish..esp. when small with the electric blue streaks...

Microspathodon dorsalis (a.k.a. the Giant Damselfish) gets slightly bigger, but you are right, I wouldn't trust a 10in damsel ;)
