A lot of corals are listed as rare and everyone and their mothers has them. But hey I'm all for the free market so If you can get $1500 for it then shoot knock yourself out.
There are many sponges that grow in full sunlight in the wild. If they are growing that close to the coral then they will do ok under your lighting. If they begin to recede it may be from lack of food since they are not photosynthetic.
