Can any ID this coral?

Maybe a chalice

At my friends house right before he gave it to me it did have tentacles coming from one spot, but they didn't look like the tentacles on any of my other chalices.
Since adding it two days ago I've yet too see any tentacles day or night but I think its still getting adjusted and settled in.

Really... Bc I've had hydnophora in the past and it looked nothing like this...
My hydnophora from the past was only green not purple
It grew branching not plating... looked like a cactus.
Never saw any tentacles from my last hydnophora.
But have seen tentacles conning from this piece
Not so sure about this one being a hydnophora....

The one that looks like a cactus is usually Hydnophora rigida, http://coral.aims.gov.au/factsheet.jsp?speciesCode=0217. The one you’re inquiring about looks like Hybnophora exesa, http://coral.aims.gov.au/factsheet.jsp?speciesCode=0215 or microconos, http://coral.aims.gov.au/factsheet.jsp?speciesCode=0216. It’s hard to say what species until it grows out. But it looks like the genus Hydnophora to me. Wait for other people to post though. There may be other opinions.

IMO cyphastrea , there are several different species available in the hobby here is a link to some pics I believe you will find yours.

Hmm I've owned meteor shower cyphastrea before ...it does kind of seem like this could be a type of cyphastrea.

More time will definitely help, ill keep a close eye on it.
I know I should know more about species I intend to care for before getting them....but it was free..
And I'm super addicted to corals! HOW COULD I SAY NO!
