If they are indeed hydroids, usually these are bad. They're known to irritate corals, but being that these are on some macro algae, you might be ok. I guess you could always prune the algae though. GL.

Anyone else? I can prune them out if necessary, but they came like this from Gulf Coast Ecosystems so I wanted to check first. My friend said they seemed like some sort of filter feeder.

Anyone else? Please? I looked up digitate hydroids and that says that they are nocturnal and retract when you get close. That doesn't happen with these.

Just an update on this... it did turn out to be a different kind of hydroids. The only thing you can do, is put them in a quarantine tank and dose with panacur (Fenbendazole). They didn't spread to anything else, but stayed contained to that plant. (The plant wasn't touching anything else, including rocks, it was in my sand.)

It didn't seem to be bothering the plant at first, but as they grew, they didn't allow the plant to grow it's normal bubbles that were growing. I have them in a quarantine tank now and will update the progress. (Medicine is coming, will be here early next week.)

Thanks for the help, it led me to doing a lot of research and contacting a reefing buddy of mine out of state who is an awesome encyclopedia.
